In Memory

Cheryl Ortstein (Wilson)

Cheryl Ortstein (Wilson)

Diane Chaisson writes:  Sadly, I have another loss of one of our Northfield Classmates, Cheryl Ortstein Wilson, to report.  She passed away on February 18, 2020 after a long battle with breast cancer.

From Stephanie Ashton Upton:  Cheryl and I kept up through Christmas cards for many years and then truly re-connected after our 35th re-union and the loss of her husband just a week or two later.  We shared many good times together - outings to the theater, concerts, meals - even a bridge game or two!  My husband and our children “adopted” her as one of our family.  She lived near me while we were in Massachusetts, and her home in Norway was a short drive from our place in Auburn, Maine.

I was texting with her up until a few days of her passing.  She was in Boston in the hospital, and I was - still am - in Florida for the winter so I regret I did not get to see her.  She was here in Florida with us for a visit last winter, though.  She kept her dry sense of humor right to the end!

A true friend, funny, witty and filled with surprizes such as little Cheryl flying me in her airplane to Boston, or zooming around the lake in her boat, patiently teaching me to play pool... A great lady, who wonderfully rose above the occasional curved ball that fate threw her way. We miss you, Cherie!
