Mr. Bailey moved me up to Crossley junior year with Doug as my roommate - strange pairing indeed. But in long discussions after lights out, Quaker Doug shook my then Goldwater leanings to the core and planted the radical seed that would lead me to filing for a CO during Vietnam and then non-cooperating. How I wish I could thank him in person after all these years...

Pete,

I admire your history, I share your beliefs, and I shelter my feelings about your MH persona (I thought you were a jerk. A good looking jerk, but a jerk).

You have journeyed more than most, and for that you earn my respect and an admiration for your good humor.

PS:  1) Carroll Bailey was also one of my favorites.  Taught me how to think and how to write.

        2) I also did a stint in furniture manufacturing.
